My Mother has passed

Some time ago I was on here talking to my Texas and main forum OH friends about my mother's cancer and how hard this fight has been. Well as of last night at 8:30pm 6/26/10, my mother, Anna Engelking has gone to be with her maker.
It was really a pleasant death. I told her it was time and we are ready. Her respirations began to slow and I grabbed my sisters. We circled the bed and told her we love her and we know she loves us. That we are ready and she needs to go find "Pa". It wasn't five minutes later my mother breathed her last breath. It really was one of the most peaceful deaths I had ever witnessed.
I am so blessed to have such a wonderful mother. I know she is at peace.
Thank you OH friends for being here for me over the last 7 months during this extremely stressful time. I have really leaned on the compassion of my sisters and brothers here on the forums. Thank you! I can not tell you what it has meant to be able to vent and cry from time to time on these forums. It made me ready to face something I didn't know I could do alone.
With much appreciation,

PENNY-it sounds to me like your mama "did things" exactly like she wanted to. As a hospice nurse, I witness alot of death/dying, and I find people TRULY each have their OWN WAY of doing it. Your mama OBVIOUSLY did a great job of raising her girls. Her earthly work was done. You will miss her PHYSICAL presence-of course you will-you are human-but try to find peace in the fact you "did right" by your mama in letting her die in the dignified fashion she deserved.

I am sorry about your Mom.  My Mom was my biggest supporter also and she would have been so happy for me to see me back to a normal weight again.  She's been gone 9 years now and I still miss her.

I will keep you in my prayers.

Sarah

I knew my Texas girls would know what it was like to have a great Mama! Not a Mom or a Mother but a Mama. I have been busy scanning pictures today and the stories just keep coming back! I am going to miss her so!
